Errol, or Partridge as everyone referred to him as, was a Cleric and that meant that it was his job to hunt down sense offenders and to bring them to justice for bringing disruption and chaos into their beautiful and pristine society. He had studied the gun katas, he was a master of the sword. He was, in many ways, nothing more than a machine.

And it was only since he had missed a couple of doses that he could see it.

And as he looked around the square in front of his home, he could see that some others were doing the same. Feeling. They were feeling emotions as he was but the trouble was that he was good at hiding it already... they were not.

As he watched another nervous man getting dragged away, he turned away to enter the café he had been eating at. It was a rather spacious and bright place but Partridge had found himself a corner where he could sit with a cup of herbal tea and read the bland, informative, newspaper that was the only source of news outside of the Father's broadcasts.

Of course underneath the newspaper he was reading something else... a book. He was reading a book he and Preston had discovered on a trip out to the 'lawless' city that lay beyond the walls of this pristine one her lived in.

"The hobbit..." he whispered under his breath as he began to story, "What on earth is a hobbit I wonder..."

Avery had decided that she was going to go and spend some time in the local cafe, she had been holed up in her room for a long time today and needed to get out and about. For some reason she felt very restless, like she should be doing something important and she wasn't...but for the life of her she couldn't figure out what she was supposed to be doing.

Probably taking the drug that she hadn't been for the last few weeks.

During that time she had read up on as many things she could to help her hide her emotions, there wasn't many things she could read without tipping the Society off that she was feeling and trying to hide it but there were some pamphlets that they issued that had some semi useful things on them for her to use.

As soon as she stepped into the cafe she saw a man in the corner reading a newspaper, nothing unusual about that, and so she went to the counter and picked up her green tea, sitting down on the window seat by him. He was attractive and she wasn't yet married, so sue her for wanting to have a little bit of eye candy.

However when he spoke, she could hear it faintly and Avery blinked, oh for gods sake was he an idiot?

A cleric.
Who was reading.
In the middle of a cafe.
And hiding it very badly.

Slipping off her chair Avery came to sit on the seat opposite the man and smiled warmly;

"That perhaps is not the best question to say out loud." she stated quietly "Come with me? I've always wanted to have a conversation with a Cleric, I've got lots of questions for you."

Ah crap.

That feeling he didn't like was back again! He believed it was fear to be honest seeing as it came when he logically thought he should be scared. He took a deep breath and looked over the edge of his newspaper at the woman who had sat down across the table from him. Using his experience as a Cleric, he took the time to examine her.

It was hard but if push came to shove he would guess that she was feeling too. And she seemed to have helped him with his slip up,

"Perhaps you are correct." He replied quietly, slipping the book easily into his pocket. He stood up from the table, leaving the correct amount of money on the table for both of their drinks and a small tip, "I'm sure I shall be happy to help."

As he exited the café he held up his car keys with a raised eyebrow,

"Would we like to talk in my car?" he asked her, trying to keep his voice steady in public, "Or is there somewhere within walking distance?"
