Dean sighed a little bit as he and Sam unpacked more of Bobby's crap into the next disgustingly crappy house that they had managed to crawl on into on the run from the god-damn Big Mouths! He sighed a little bit and closed his eyes as he set down the last box of ancient books on the pile,

"I swear to god..." he muttered as he took a drink from Bobby's flask, "If we ever get another research expert, he's not allowed to be old, drunk and or a hick. Bobby's stuff might be right on the money but damn! Would it have killed the guy just to get a fucking kindle?"

Sammy, who had been on the laptop researching the area, turned round in the seat to scoff slightly,

"You know what a kindle is?" he asked, bewildered before humming, "Guess I thought with your musical taste you thought this was still the 80s."

Dean scowled playfully at his younger brother as he began to sharpen the demon-killing knife as he sat down at one of the other chairs in the room. Seriously. They had three chairs and a crappy little table in this entire place. He sighed a little bit at his brother,

"Hey... the 80s were a good decade for music!" he defended before scowling a little bit as he looked around, "I'm serious though man... couldn't we go and house invade some asshats on vacation or something? You know... have a nice little suburb house and not have to live here?"

When Sam made a non-committal noise, Dean hit his brother round the back of the head,

"I'm being serious here Sam!" he sighed, "I mean what happens if I pull? Dude this is THE worst place to bring a chick back from the bar!"

A massive surge of energy washed through the house and almost instantly Sam and Dean were on their feet, Sam with the demon knife and Dean with a shotgun loaded in salt. Turning to the open doorway, they both spotted a fat man wearing a bloodied wife-beater, blood drying on his hands and a wild look in his eyes,

"IS A LITTLE RESPECT IN MY OWN HOUSE TOO MUCH TO ASK?!" He roared, flickering almost as if to let the brothers know that he was a ghost, "I OUGHT TO TAN YOUR HIDE WITH MY BELT!"

Dean fired the shotgun but the ghost disappeared, reappearing beside Sam long enough to smack the side of his face with a folded belt. Sam went flying to the ground, a heavily bleeding welt appearing on his face as the abusive father ghost appeared above him, ready to strike again. Dean tried to charge over there but he would likely be unable to stop the next blow,

"Sammy no!"

Persephone was hungry, and there was a ghost ready for the picking in at least ten houses within this small town. There was something that drew her however to this house, she had seen those two hunters enter it not long ago and she was certain that they didn't know about the house being haunted which was strange...they were hunters right?

Sighing softly she thought it might be best to go to another house, despite it being appealing to meet the two hunters in the flesh they had killed off rather a lot of her fellow pagan gods when Lucifer had been released from hell. Or was that Lucifer who had done the killing? Either way she was pretty certain they had killed a pagan god before.

What was to stop them doing so again?

Turning on her heel to walk towards the next house on her list, Persephone raised an eyebrow when she heard the sound of commotion coming from the house the Winchesters were occupying. Slowly she slid up to the front door, pressed her ear to the wood and held her breath as she listened. The colder air immediately told her the ghost was manifesting. The shouts told her that the boys had been caught almost completely unaware as she had thought.

Unable to let them stay in there and get pummelled Persephone kicked at the door handle, sending the door bursting open and she jogged inside, spotting the ghost almost immediately Persephone ran up behind it as swiftly as she could while making sure it kept its attention on the boys and not her. Her palm pressed against its clammy back and in a moment, the ghost screamed, flickered and exploded in bright flames which rushed up Persephone's arm.

They didn't hurt, they barely even tickled in fact, and she was sufficiently fed for the time being.

"You're welcome." she stated with a small smirk, pushing her hair back away from her face so that the boys could get a good look "A pleasure to meet the two of you finally."

What the fuck was that shit?

First of all some second rate ghost got the jump on them, the Winchesters, and then some randomer had appeared out of nowhere to just swoop in and save the day. He wasn't complaining too much about the swooping and the saving and shit but Jesus Christ! Why the fuck weren't they ready for this shit?!

For one thing, why the hell hadn't there been any cold spots in the house or emf readings when they'd first searched it? But with the ghost.... somewhere that wasn't here right now, Dean decided that now was the best chance to focus on the woman who seemed to have almost materialised out of nowhere to kick the ass of that ghost.

That was supposed to be the kind of shit Hunters did and he doubted she was a hunter. He frowned slightly and Sammy groaned as he tried to check on the wound across his face,

"Alright... out of respect of saving my little brothers life..." Dean smiled weakly, "I'm trying not to freak out you know? I figure I owe you that much."

Sam groaned,

"You think?"

Dean scowled at his brother before turning back to the woman,

"But I mean you gotta look at this from our point of view here..." he paused before asking the all important question, "Who are you?"

The brothers were freaking out.

The little expressions on their faces were so amusingly cute she wasn't sure how to react for a second, before realising that she couldn't be mad at them for being shocked she would be shocked too. Someone bursts in out of nowhere to fight a ghost in a way you've never seen before and is totally unaffected by the heat of their flames.

Persephone was going to enjoy explaining to them who she was, and she even had a little 'please don't kill me' line that she was going to use - she could be very useful to them and she wanted to be useful to them as well! That was the difference between her and the other pagan gods she supposed. They all killed humans and were too pissy to help but not her, she was just happy to be fully topside again.

Smiling gently she stuck her hands in the back pocket of her black skinny jeans as she a little nervously introduced herself, they might still want to kill her after all;

"It's quite understandable, I would freak out as well if I were in your positions." Persephone admitted with a gentle smile "My name is Persephone, and I was just in town to pick up a quick bite to eat and I saw you boys coming into this house. I wasn't going to swing by and introduce myself but you sounded like you needed the help."

With the introduction spoken, Persephone held her hand out to Sam, to pull him from the floor. It wouldn't be very productive to have a conversation with one of the brothers on the floor after all.

Dean wasn't much of a lore specialist but he had learnt from his dad that it helped to be prepared even in the most general of sense. That was why he had memorised the names of every single pagan god that he could even think of. All of the major old religions and all of the ones that had ever had any kind of following, like the Greeks and the Romans and such.

And, of course, he had known at the ones who guarded their versions of hell much better than the others.

Mainly because they were often seen as the bad guys in stories and legends and also because they were annoyingly common in every religion. And he wouldn't put it past the fuckers to have created some demons in much the same way that Lucifer had done. It was kind of what a lot of underworld gods did after all. But he had heard of Persephone.

"Ah... so it's not just a stranger coming in out of the blue to kick ghostly ass in a completely new way but it's a pagan god rolling into town, hungry and looking to kick some ass..." he swallowed thickly, "Well I don't think that shouting 'oh crap' quite does this one justice so how about we just say I did it anyway and move on huh?"

Sam was hesitant for a second before he grasped her hand and used it to help pull him to his feet. He paused,

"Thanks." he told her with a hesitant smile before looking down at the dust of the ghost, "Going to go out on a limb here and say you managed to eat your fill from him? Otherwise I'm thinking I'm far too close to the oven right now..."

Persephone had to admit that both of the Winchesters were very handsome, however, Sam really was very tall and she liked that. Tall and broad. Almost the complete opposite of what Hades had been and for that she was very thankful - he had been skinny as his strength was in his mind and his powers not in his stature but she had never been attracted to him in a way in which she had desired before the deal was struck.

Deciding to move on from thoughts of how attractive the boys were, Persephone could see that they were nervous but they had no cause to be. She wasn't going to hurt them instead she really wanted to help them out.

"Please you have nothing to fear." she stated with a warm smile "It is not an 'Oh Crap' moment as you would suggest, I actually come with an intent to help you two brothers if you are willing. I know a great deal about spirits and demons, I could aid you if you have problems with them in the future." Persephone suggested with a little shy grin on her lips.

Very happy that Sam had taken her hand, Persephone saw it as a sign that they were slowly beginning to calm down and trust her. She so badly wanted them to trust her - she wanted a friend, two friends perhaps in this world now that she was up and about again so far it had been a very lonely existence.

"Yes, unlike other pagan gods I get my energy from ghosts and demons and the like, by sending them down to hell I get to absorb the energy they were using to stay here and that serves me well enough." Persephone explained with a grin "So, can you boys relax now that you know I'm not going to be eating you any time soon?"

Dean had to admit that it actually did a lot for her case that she was actually speaking to them about this kind of thing. What most pagan gods did was get pissy as soon as anyone human even decided to speak to them. After all, they had been the top of the food chain once and they tended to resent the fact that right now they were weaker (in many regards) to demons, let alone angels and leviathans.

That was before you even considered God himself.

"Well sister right about now we'd accept any kind of help that we can get." he told her with a sigh as he drank down some more whiskey from Bobby's flask, "But I gotta warn you... our friends are dropping like flies lately."

Sam scoffed at his brother in disbelief. Not at what he had said but more the fact that he had said it in front of someone who was honestly willing to become their ally. That right there was stupidity on his brother's behalf he knew that much. Sighing a little bit, he nodded a little bit,

"Yeah if you eat the enemy I doubt we have much reason to fear you." he admitted honestly before sighing, "I don't suppose you're strong enough to rip a leviathans head off? Or does it take a few ghosts in you for that kind of juice?"

Dean sat down heavily,

"Yeah no pressure Persephone but you sign up with us you just got the position of Heavy Hitter." he muttered, "Ever since Cas died anyway... Crowley wants to help but not to get caught helping... Bobby's gone... hell even the randomer twins are gone! Sure could used some of Gabriel and Balthazar's random ass shit right about now..."

Persephone was not very happy that Dean automatically said that if she joined up with them there was a great chance that she would die in the process. What kind of a jerk went around and said something that mean to someone wanting to help them? She supposed he was being honest but he could have actually been a little nicer about it, instead of just blurting it out like that.

"Well gee thanks Dean." she stated with a small frown "I know you don't have good people skills saying that someone is more than likely going to die by helping you, is not a very good advertisement for actually doing so."

Sighing softly she pinched the bridge of her nose and decided that Sam might be the more intelligent man to converse with here, or at least the one who wasn't going to get her back up. Dean had done a pretty good job of that already by saying she was signing a death wish to help them, especially against leviathans.

"To be honest Sam I've never tried to rip anything's head off." Persephone admitted with an appauled expression "But to be on the safe side I would suggest that I consume a few more ghosts, I doubt that they travel alone as well."

The mention of all of these people, people she knew, Castiel the angel she had met only very briefly, Crowley she had dealt with more while she was still trapped down in the pit (the old letcher) but Bobby and whoever these 'twins' were she had never heard of. Until the Winchesters elaborated. A cold stone slid down her throat, plummeting into her stomach when she heard that Balthazar and Gabriel were gone.

"That's...a...that's a shame." she whispered softly, rubbing her arm "I knew Balthazar and Gabriel, they were fun, well, fun for angels."

Dean really wasn't selling this...like at all. Persephone was beginning to doubt her choice to show herself and help, who would want to? She was going to be the muscle?! She'd never 'been the muscle' in her whole life!

"You do realise guys my mother is Goddess of Seasons? Not like...Athena, or my father was Ares...I have never been 'the heavy hitter'. Maybe I shouldn't help you guys, you know if that's the type of person you need I don't think its me."

Dean knew that he shouldn't be painting it in such a heavy handed manner but at the same time... what else was he going to say? He was telling her the truth and the truth sucked around them at the moment. Everything on the planet was going to suck soon considering how influential the god-damn Leviathans had become in only a few months. Give them a year or two and they would be ruling damn-near the entire world.

"Didn't want you getting the wrong impression." he told her honestly as he began to chug down some more whiskey from the flask, snorting as he did so, "My 'people skills' are... 'rusty'..."

He laughed a little bit at his own reference before it hurt a little bit too much to do so and he took another drink. Sam smiled a little bit,

"Well that makes two of us." he admitted with a little Sam-smile before shaking his head, "Either way, I'm happy to have you on board. We get a lot of spirits and they're going to all be fair game for you."

Sam nodded his head a little bit,

"We met Gabriel back when he was still going by the name Loki... we er... well we stabbed a wooden stake through his heart." he had the decency to blush a little bit, "He was a real sport about that. Except, of course, when he made his goodbye message to us a porno... jackass..."

He paused,

"I'm sorry." he told her honestly, "We knew them a couple months... I can't imagine what it would have been like after knowing them for years."

Sam paused as he thought about the best way to explain it to her but in the end it was Dean who explained, cutting off his brother quickly,

"Our mother was a retired hunter and our dad a mechanic turned hunter and we've managed to make ourselves a pain in the ass for these guys." he explained, gesturing to her with the flask, "Imagine what you can do. We know what can hurt them... we know how to stop them getting back up... you have the power and you can learn the magic to beat them better than we can anyday of the week."
