Seffi had been a member of Slytherin house for quite a while now, she was in her sixth year and as a result of that she had grown up with most of the people in the other houses hating her guts. That wasn't the way that she wanted it perse but it was the way things had turned out and she didn't think that she would have been able to turn it around even if things hadn't have been that way.

The only bad thing was because she was from Germany, her family wasn't well known to the people over here and as such she didn't have much respect from the other families in Slytherin house. It seemed as if they were too focused on money and status for her liking.

Of course there were the hot guys that she couldn't help but like and want to imagine they had a different side to them but, if one of them did come over to talk to her she would probably have a heart attack and think it was some sort of joke. What else would it be after all, especially if Draco came up to her and started talking...besides the death glares from Pansy she would get, she'd probably have something extorted out of her. He wouldn't come and talk to her for no reason.

Sighing softly, Seffi sat down on one of the green leather sofas in the common room, flicking through one of the spell tomes that she had brought with her from home. It was on mental magic, one of the abilities that her family had specialised in. These books were incredible sources of knowledge, even if she did have to legally wait to practice them until she was of age - or under a teachers supervision.

That left the problem of just who would supervise her?

Abraxas Malfoy had been back in the country for less than a day and his father had already 'pulled some strings' to have him attend Hogwarts. Honestly, Durmstrang was still a far superior institution as far as he was concerned, even if people were a little bit wary about it now that a certain Dark Lord was apparently back.

His father had been mightily pleased with himself but honestly, Abraxas could care less about his father.

The man knew nothing of the true nature of the dark arts.

Even now he was forced to be lectured by Draco, who seemed to be under the impression that his older brother would follow his lead in the Sytherin house and defer to him. As they entered the common room, in full view of other Slytherins, he turned to his young brother,

"Brother... you are a parrot. You talk the words but you know nothing of the dark arts, of the dark lord or of the true nature of magic." he flicked his brother on the forehead, "I will not defer to you... I will do as I please."

Draco looked flustered for a moment before he huffed, going away to do some damage control on his ego now that Abraxas had damaged it by refusing to bend knee. Spotting a student reading a book that seemed a tad odd, he wandered over and sat down in a chair next to her,

"Interesting choice of literature... ja?" he asked her with a small smirk, "I am assuming you are the 'Dresner woman' I have been told about by my brother. Seldom do English wizards read such books."

Seffi looked up when Draco and a boy she didn't know entered the room, she thought that they looked a little bit alike however she wouldn't go so far to say that they were related or anything. She had never seen this boy before after all and he was the same age as Draco if not a little bit younger but not by any great measure of years at all, a year at most.

The way that he put him down however, in front of everyone brother or no brother was honestly rather amusing and she hoped that he would stay true to his word. It might be nice to have someone who wasn't constantly sucking up to Draco, or being snide to her because he deemed her family name as not baring enough weight.

Returning to her book Seffi sighed softly and ran her hand through her long loose brown hair. There were still scars running through her after what had happened to her family, but they were getting over it together whenever she returned to the family home they would always have a good time.

The boy came over to her and she blinked in shock, closing her book over with a small smile to be polite. It seemed as though Draco had already told him about her...just great.

"Uh, yes that's me." she stated with a small nod "You can call me Seffi. This is an old family spellbook of mine, I was looking for someone to help me practice it but, there seems to be no professor here willing. I'm sorry but...I didn't know that Draco had a brother, you are new here aren't you?"

Abraxas had to admit that his little brother Draco had a rather terrible knack when it came to descriptions. He had described one Seffi Dresner as an 'attractive if, ill-bred, foreigner with little grasp of proper wizarding traditions'. It seemed that young Draco, his junior by only a few months, had taken after their shared father.

Was it too much to hope that the boy would have followed after his mother and gotten some level of tact? Apparently it was.

"A pleasure to meet you Miss Dresner... Seffi." he bowed his head to her with his small smirk still in place, "My name is Abraxas Malfoy... you may call me Abrax if you would like."

He hummed a little bit as he looked at the book's cover,

"Mmm I believe I have a passing knowledge of that book and should be capable of supervising you." he told her before fake-lamenting, "Oh but I'm not a professor... would you be willing to break the rules like that?"

He shook his head,

"Draco wouldn't have said... we're half-brothers. Lucius had a European mistress for his business trips you see." he explained before nodding, "Just transferred from Durmstrang... not my choice mind you."

Seffi smiled softly when he introduced himself and she thought that he was rather, charming. Draco was slimy, whereas Abraxus was charming. It made her think that the older boy might just have more luck getting to be head of the household if Draco continued to be such a whining incompetent male as she had seen over the years that she had been here in Hogwarts.

Besides the fact she had only been here for three years of her school education it had been quite enough to see Draco being mauled by a Hippogryff purely because he was in a huff that Harry Potter had been able to do such a feat unharmed.

"Pleased to meet you Abrax, I think I remember your name in passing from when I attended Durmstrang myself you know." she commented with a gentle smile "I do believe we were in different houses though, I miss that school, I wish that I could return but when my parents heard some of the things the professors had gotten up to they took me out of there right away."

Unable to stop herself from rolling her eyes a little Seffi resisted poking her tongue out at her new acquaintance because of his cocky attitude when it came to teaching her spells she already knew pretty much.

"Strange you should know spells my family have kept secret for generations..." she commented with a smirk "I thank you for your offer however, if I was going to do it without supervision I would be happy to learn them on my own."

Nodding her head Seffi smiled softly again. It would seem as if Draco had been trying to assert his dominance over Abraxas before and try and make him docile now that they attended the same school, however it had gone really very wrong indeed and he now looked more stupid than he had done in a while.

"Ah right I see. That explains the little tiff you had earlier. I'm hoping you're not planning on falling in with his lot later on, they think that they are Slytherin just because they act spoilt and viciously attack muggle borns. That is not what makes a true Slytherin." she stated with a roll of her eyes.

Abraxas was very glad that someone else from Durmstrang had been stranded here as well. Although the professors at Durmstrang were undoubtedly insane in some cases, it wasn't much better here at Hogwarts from what he had been told. After all, the Divination professor was an old drunk who only gave real insights into the future when high out of her tiny mind.

And Severus Snape was a 'former' Death Eater who Abraxas personally knew was not as reformed as Dumbledore would like everyone to believe.

"Oh the pleasure is all mine I assure you Miss Dresner." he told her with a warm smile before smirking slightly, "Yes well in Durmstrang the houses seemed to mean something... well something more than what they do here in Hogwarts. Ah... professor Raven Drake by any chance?"

Professor Raven Drake... yes well there was someone best left unspoken about. The rumour in Muhe had been that she had a Taboo on her name so whenever you spoke of her she would know whether or not she had to appear behind you with one of her silver 'friends' at your neck.

"True..." he admitted with a little chuckle, "But I think I've heard of some of those spells... not enough to cast them but History was useful in letting us know of historic spell usage... perhaps you be willing to trade a spell for a spell?"

Abraxas smiled a little bit and waved at his fuming half-brother, who stormed off in a rage. Honestly, the boy was just so weak when it came to emotions. Shaking his head a little bit, Abraxas adopted an offended expression,

"Me? Drop in with them? No no, I like my free will and my intelligence." he smirked, "You have to lose both to follow my little brother. As if the Dark Lord really cares about him... Draco is a weak little child. He's more of a Lion than a Snake."

Seffi hummed softly when she heard that the houses seemed to mean something more in Durmstrang instead of what they meant here in Hogwarts. It was strange but now he had mentioned it, it was true. She had felt much more at home when she was in Durmstrang than here because her house mates were so much like her, on the same wavelength and everyone although similar in their main aspect was different in terms of background and other interests.

Here everyone just seemed to want to be clones.

"I have to agree with you, here it seems you have to try hard to fit in with your house whereas in Durmstrang you just...were your house. You were meant to be there and you could feel it, at least thats what I thought." she admitted with a soft blush on her cheeks.

Nodding her head Seffi smiled gently; "Yes, Raven and...well my parents thought that Konig was a bad influence on me so he was the main reason why we moved. I do miss him a lot though, have you...is he doing well?"

With a swift shake of her head Seffi grinned wickedly; "Sorry but no, I'm not about to give up my family secrets to someone I only just met, I think that I might be disowned if I gave up what we've been keeping secret so long. Maybe if I think that you really need, and want to learn it, one day we can do that trade."

Curling her legs up onto the sofa to relax Seffi couldn't help but giggle when Abraxas waved to Draco causing him to flounce off. He really was such a big girls blouse on occasion.

"I wouldn't say he was even a lion, maybe something slightly less majestic. I hope you don't think I'm being too forward but, have you maintained a relationship with your father while you've been in Germany? I only say because I think you would probably do well as head of the family, rather than him."

Abraxas paused for a moment and closed his eyes. For a second he was back in the Muhe common room, laughing with friends in one corner while other housemates were working on some powerful spells in another corner. And all within earshot of each other so they could drop in and out of each others conversations.

Connected even though they sat apart.

He opened his eyes and he was back at Hogwarts. Inwardly he sighed. He would find no home within these cold walls,

"I couldn't have put it better myself." he admitted with a small smile, "I loved Durmstrang more than I had any right to but no matter... Accept. Adapt. Move on."

He smirked a little bit,

"Konig probably was a bad influence on you... the man's still crazy enough to be dating Raven." he teased her a little bit, "She's been letting him grow a beard recently because she wants to actually use her razors for shaving... Konig seems convinced she'll 'slip' a few times so right now his face is furry."

He clicked his tongue,

"And here I thought I had secured a strong weapon for the Dark Lord!" he teased her a little bit with a small wink, "There's always next time I guess."

And Abraxas was supposed to believe that he was related to Draco? Yeah the puff of a brother of his was a weakling and Abraxas would not be surprised if Narcissa had decided to cheat on Lucius in revenge for Abraxas' own mother.

"Wow... dropping a lot of weight on that question." he teased her a little bit before humming slightly, "I won't, and can't, be the head of the family I'm afraid. I'm a bastard, it is considered an 'honour' for me to even carry the name."

He paused before adding,

"But we never spoke much anyway so it's a little bit of a moot point."

Seffi was rather sad going over the old times in her head, she had hoped that the nostalgia would be fun but it was the complete opposite. She missed being in Durmstrang and she wanted to go back, see her friends again, to see Konig again and even the crazy Professor Drake who hadn't been all that bad to her in the end. As long as you were quiet and good at potions she was fine to be around, it was if you weren't the problems came up.

"Well at least you have me around, a fellow ex-Durmstrang." she smiled gently "But Hogwarts really isn't too bad you know, what classes are you taking for your OWLS?"

She was actually rather curious which side Abraxas was inclined, did he like the more dangerous subjects like duelling and defence against the dark arts, or was he more of a bookworm into things like arithmancy and runes? Maybe they would be in some of the same classes together, it would be nice to have someone new to hang around with.

"That's a little bit forwards don't you think?" she asked, a little taken aback by what Abraxas said "Even if people in this house are with the Dark Lord they don't tend to go around broadcasting it, I guess I won't ever be telling you then, if that's what you intend to do with it." Seffi stated with a small smirk.

Biting her lip Seffi had the decency to look a little abashed for being so forwards with what she said to Abraxas but she was curious and she thought it was always better to be straight and ask than to go around spreading false rumours, or in some cases taking in false rumours.

"Ah I see...well you get to make your own way, without all the pressures of someone in that position." she smiled gently "Do you have any hobbies that you like to do in your spare time?"

Abraxas hummed a little bit and reached into his pocket, fishing out the schedule that Snape had given him. Looking it over, he snorted a little bit before smirking a little bit at Seffi. They should both know that the lessons in this school were much worse than those at Durmstrang but he supposed he would have to play along with the system here in Britain,

"Yes at least someone else knows a good education when you see one!" he teased with a wink before shaking his head a little bit, "I'm taking DADA, Transfiguration, Charms, Runes, Potions, Arithmancy and Astronomy."

He shrugged a little bit,

"Not really able to keep up my Dark Arts lessons after all."

Abraxas was a strange one he knew because he was all across the board in terms of subjects and the types of things he was learning. Runes and Arithmancy were considered heavy subjects but not the most practical while the opposite was thought for the core four lessons. He liked to think that all of his lessons could be practical though,

"If what I was saying was truthful, yes." he agreed with a small smirk, "Really? Have you met my half-brother? Nott? They seem all too convinced that shouting about it is the best way to show support. Personally... I'm undecided. Any faction my little brother wants to join needs to be examined thoroughly before I even look at it."

He chuckled a little bit before humming slightly,

"I enjoy playing chess and other strategy games." he admitted before smirking, "And swimming is another hobby... want to go swimming in the Prefect's bathroom? Draco was bragging about how large the bath was and I happened to get him to slip the password... interested in seeing what the fuss is about?"

Seffi peered over the schedule that Abraxas had and she was happy to see that indeed they were taking some of the same classes and were in the same groups for some of the lessons. It meant that they would be seeing more of each other and it was always good to have another friend, of course the fact he was quite a handsome male friend had nothing to do with the frequency of the visits she wanted to make.

"We are in some of the same lessons together, I'm taking transfiguration, DADA, potions and charms with you but I'm also taking Divination, Herbology and History of Magic so a pretty comprehensive mix we seem to have between the two of us."

The lessons at Durmstrang although they had been darker they had been so much more interesting, even though the Dark Arts teacher Darcie Vane was so harmless it made the lessons almost null and void, Raven Drake made up for that. Snape was a fluffy bunny compared to her and that was why she excelled so well under the lesser pressure of his classes.

"In this house it so often is. I have met him, well, I have seen him in passing we haven't had a conversation or anything like that." she smiled gently before giving a little laugh "Oh you are too cruel, yet I can't help but find myself enjoying this. Draco does deserve it. He needs to make up his own mind not just follow what his father thinks is right."

Looking at the time, Seffi bit her lip before shaking her head;

"I can't tonight, I have some homework to do up in my dorm before I go to bed, but how about tomorrow? After the feast in the Great Hall for dinner, we can go after that." she suggested with a small grin.
